Ilkley Playhouse at the Minack

Ilkley Playhouse has been performing bi-annually at the Minack since 1975, and a visit to the theatre is one of the highlights of our season.  Performing there is by invitation only, and we strive to make sure that the productions we send are up to the Minack’s high standards.  But all the hard work is forgotten the moment you walk onto that magnificent stage, with its backdrop of the Atlantic Ocean.

The Minack Theatre is a legend in the amateur drama world.  Carved out of a cliff side above the Atlantic Ocean, four miles from Land’s End, its creation was the life work of one remarkable woman, Rowena Cade.  Now an independent Trust, and one of the most popular tourist destinations in Cornwall, it still holds true to the ideals of its creator, to be a summer venue for amateur and professional theatre for companies throughout Britain.

Our next Minack Production will be staged in August 2009.
