by Harold Brighouse

Directed by Chris Benstead and Hilary Rundle

Monday 4 - Saturday 16 December

Wharfeside Theatre

Although a prolific and popular playwright and novelist during his lifetime, the reputation of Harold Brighouse today rests almost entirely on Hobson's Choice. This northern classic revolves around the battle of wills between tyrannical bootmaker and self-made man Hobson, and his three daugheters, Maggie, Alice and Vickey.

Hobson has marriage plans for the younger girls, but intends Maggie should remain single and look after him. But the resourceful Maggie has other plans.
