by Alison Carr
An Ad Hoc Production in the Wildman Theatre
9 - 11 January 2008
This new play tells the story of Jenny, a lonely young girl, prone to obsessive behaviour, who fills a void in her life with a fantasy figure from the 1930’s golden age of Hollywood. Behind this lies Jenny's relationship with her father and his new girlfriend, Tracey, the fallout from her mother's leaving and failed suicide attempt. Will Jenny's father be able to coax her back to reality and convince her that a relationship with him is worth having and will the girlfriend ever fit into the picture?
A darkly comic drama in which a troubled young girl finds out that you can’t choose your family – or can you?
Newcastle born writer Alison Carr won The People’s Play Award in 2006 for this Play. It received the first performance at the Peoples Theatre in Newcastle upon Tyne the same year – comments from The Evening Chronicle : ‘A play that stood out from the norm – emotive and original’
