The Pines is a Victorian Gothic three-storey house which is For Sale.
The inhabitants are all trying to move on in their lives but constantly get in each other's way.
Roland Crabbe is a man with problems. He's about to buy the dilapidated and reputedly haunted house for man outwardly jolly, but inwardly desperate, contractor. He's assisted by a solicitor who can't even complete a sentence. His wife of three months is about to walk out on him and his brother-in-law has stached his wayward fiancee in the attic.
Trust master-writer Alan Ayckbourn to set up marry mixups which unfurl and sort themselves out in a brilliant farce, taking place over one evening and the rude awakenings of the morning-after denouement.
