Set in Skipton in the mid 19th century, Blake Morrison’s adaptation of Goldini’s classic, ‘The Servant of Two Masters’, swaps the elegant Venice of the 18th century for more northern climes and accents. A penniless and desperately hungry Yorkshireman lands himself two jobs - he thinks he’s so clever, but can he work for two bosses at the same time and not be found out?
This classic comedy explores the possibilities as artful Arthur dodges between the two, serving himself above all. And to help this hilarious romp along the author stirs into the pot a meaty stew of characters; a woman disguised as her brother, a pigheaded Dales farmer, a pompous vicar and much, much more.
