Start: 19:30

by William Shakespeare

Directed by Simon Lanzon

Wildman Theatre

A Studio production with Playhouse Greenroom students

One of the best known plays in the English language, Romeo & Juliet is driven by the intense, over-whelming passion of teenage love.  It catapults the audience into a world of emotional extremes where the ingrained hatred of two feuding families and the pain of their conflicting loyalties drive the young lovers towards an inevitable tragic climax.  This production embodies classic Shakespearean theatre, whilst playing with modern and imaginative concepts.  Set on a contemporary council estate, where rival gangs flourish and bored youths are easily spurred towards violence, young actors and experienced senior Playhouse members are brought together in this production.

Revitalised, original and comprehensive, this timeless story is as fresh and moving as ever - this is Shakespeare for the new millennium.  Don't miss it!
