We Happy Few is an uplifting, touching and often hilarious story of overcoming adversity with a dogged determination and a passion for theatre. It is also a salute to the real-life Osiris Players, who under the direction of the forceful Nancy Hewins operated from the 1930s to the early 1960s.

Stubbs' fictional verion turns their efforts into a purely war-time enterprise as her "girls only" thespian band, The Artemis Players, travel around the country in their battered Rolls Royce engaging in a mix of comic theatrical misadventures whilst bringing Shakespeare to a culture-starved Britain during the dark days of the Second World War. "There isn't a sweeter, warmer, more likeable play..." The Time.

Ilkley's production features a live jazz band on stage to ensure the action goes with a swing!
